My take on The Frog Prince fairytale, in a renaissance twist.
No iconic kissing scene though as i based it on one of the original versions in which the princess is not only a spoiled brat but also a little aggressive and throws the frog against the wall at some point. This (or the shock most probably) causes his transformation to a conveniently handsome young prince and the princess has a change of heart and marries him then and there. Now why would he want to marry her is a mystery but you know, there are far more weird unions and endings in some of those fairytales.
Pencil, watercolours, white and gold acrylic, 6.4 x 8.9 cm (2.5 x 3.5 inches).

I definitely used that "spoiled princess" character to my advantage when I wrote my fairy tale mashup. Only the change of heart wasn't instant. It took time.

This is beautiful!! It's a shame that not enough people have actually read The Princess and the Frog. It's been thrown around for so many years, made into so many movies, been in so many jokes, that no one even knows the real story.

I read that version when I was little. I was pretty shocked to hear that twist instead of the usual fairy tale kiss of true love. And she just has a 'change of heart' because he's a handsome prince...

Oh my.. I love her eyes..the way her eyelids look... I love her dress...her lips are SO sensible. And all in all she's so alive! As if I could touch her.
And I'd like to ask you how do you make pearls glitter? No need to answer if it is your professional secret.

Oh no, not at all. It's actually white acrylic paint, i just dip a toothpick in the paint and do a tiny dot for every pearl. Because the paint is so thick it creates a tiny ball so it's also kind of embossed (?) too.

This is such a classical illustration style, and then I spotted the frog back there and he looks almost out of place with how cartoony cute he is. Really draws my eye to him. Love it!
