Description
My take on The Frog Prince fairytale, in a renaissance twist. No iconic kissing scene though as i based it on one of the original versions in which the princess is not only a spoiled brat but also a little aggressive and throws the frog against the wall at some point. This (or the shock most probably) causes his transformation to a conveniently handsome young prince and the princess has a change of heart and marries him then and there. Now why would he want to marry her is a mystery but you know, there are far more weird unions and endings in some of those fairytales.
Pencil, watercolours, white and gold acrylic, 6.4 x 8.9 cm (2.5 x 3.5 inches).

Beautiful Her expression is just right- a bit snooty and spoiled, but not too much so. I also love her dress!

That one is so gorgeous! ^^
In the version I remember from when i was younger, she refuses to kiss the frog, but when her father hears about it he kinda forces her to keep her promise.

From the thumbnail it looks like she's holding her boob xD Beautiful work though. And the expression in her face is subtle, but there. So pretty!

Yes, I never understood why the Frog Prince would want to marry her after she nearlly killed him. Perhaps he is just as shallow as she is. *shrugs*

beautiful!
when I first read the original I too couldn't understand why he would want to marry her. Maybe the answer is S/M?

Thank you! I did have paintings of that era in my mind for this one. I thought the luxury of the Italian Renaissance would be the perfect setting for the story of a spoiled princess.

This is beautiful, and you've caught her bratty expression very well I grew up knowing the old version with the wall throwing as well! When did the kiss come in I wonder?

According to the article over at SurLaLune Fairy Tales a translator named Edgar Taylor altered it in the 1820s because he thought that the English readers of the time would not accept a heroine who throws the animal against the wall.
Thanks for your compliment on my work!

YOU HAVE TO KISS A LOT OF FROGS BEFORE YOU FIND YOUR HANDSOME PRINCE
That is indeed a true statement of how people have to struggle to find TRUE LOVE.
