Description After about a year of neglect of this project of mine, i bring you a new piece from my ACEO fairytale collection, the Wild Swans. Actually i had drawn both this and Scheherazade (of the One Thousand and One Nights) many months ago but when i got to add colour i found out the paper had developed some sort of mould or gathered dust (anyone have any advice/knowledge to share regarding that?) and both paintings were ruined. It put me off from drawing them all over again until today.

On a side note, i enjoyed researching Scandinavian folk costumes so much that i think i'll take a break from the German/French fairytales and do a few Nordic/Russian etc next. Any suggestions?

Pencil, watercolours, white gouache / 6,4 x 8,9 cm (2.5" x 3.5")

You can see the rest of the collection here : achen089.deviantart.com/galler…

So beautiful! I love this fairy tale and it gets overlooked so often. Β Have you done a painting inspired by the story the snow queen by Hans Christian Andersen yet? Β It's one of my favorites. Β

Ah, this is one of my favorite fairy tales ^^ Her expression is really perfect

Β  Concerning Russian fairy tales, there is the one called the Frog Princess (not the Princess and the Frog) which is a wonderful tale. It must have been (and still is) my all time favorite tale ^^ You can read it there although it is a slighty shorter version from the one I know: www.artrusse.ca/fairytales/fro…
There is an animated version but I can only find it in full russian on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LvzJZ…
There is one in english out there but I wouldn't recomand it as the voices and music dubbed over are just horrible and plain stupid.

There is also the Firebird which is a classic Russian tale I also greatly enjoyed Found a version of it here (a little shorter too but the essential is there ^^)Β  : www.artrusse.ca/fairytales/fir…

hum well, I didn't post the first one because it is the second version they did of tyhat animation and it had quite awful music and the text wasn't as good (not that it matters if you don't have subtitles to see it but at least the music changes everything as far as I'm concerned ^^)

Β Not sure if I like the animation style of the other one though... Best read the story and check out the character designs from the first animation of the fifties. I have the first version of it with the good music but only in french and it hasn't been uploaded on youtube as far as I know...
