Description
Journal commission for ~KingsLamb . The theme/keyword i was given was old keys which always bring secret passages and walled gardens to my mind ( probably from my reading the Secret Garden again and again as a child ) so nature it was. I got a little carried away with all the trees and branches but i do like drawing entwined patterns, it has such a calming effect on me.
9x14 cm (3.5x5.5") Moleskine journal, graphite & white pencils, acrylic.

Everything looks so neat and her hands are brilliant. I usually have real difficulty with hands. I try to do too much detail, but these are so elegant and simple.

This one is really beautiful. I love the repeating motif of keys and door - door to freedom, door to mystery. And the frame of branches looks amazing, too.

Hmm. I love your designs that you do on these covers ... but I was just wondering, how do you keep the graphite from smudging when they're finished pieces? The thought of one of these drawings getting ruined from using the journal is heartbreaking!

I absolutely love how her hair becomes a part of the trees. As well with her shawl. I adore how you've connected things but not in an obvious way. This is so beautiful! I wish it were mine!!!

Do you know the legend of Brawen? She's a welsh goddess and she was stuck in an unhappy marriage for n reasons, so she trained a starling to carry a message to her brother, saying to go free her. I imagine that freeing that bird make her feel like this painting...
