Description
And thus begins my first steps into serious portaiture. For the past few months, I've been immersing myself in looking at and editing some one elses wonderful happy-people pictures. While I'm still months away from anything resembling professional, I decided it was time I got behind the camera again. So Jensey, myself, Lorie and Jonathan (the couple featured here) headed out to Disney World/Epcot for a Friday afternoon. The four of us have talked about this for a few months now, so it was cool to finally head out and do it. They were such wonderful models; very accodomating to my newb-like skills. And if it wasn't for Jensey, I don't know what I would've done. I can hold a camera, I can focus and compose...but when it comes to posing, positioning, or location scouting...I'm not so good. (When wedding photography comes around, I'll have my pocket-Jensey.)
Anyways, fin with the initial description. This shot in particular was rather spur of the moment. They were smooching on the bridge and I stepped over a gate, got in position, and voila. Nothing too fancy. In terms of editing, just used some custom PS actions to enrich colors and soften everything. (Hoooray Lord of the Rings filter by Kevin Kubota!)
+ Enjoy!

I absolutely love this, Nate. Great idea to focus on the flowers blooming with it a bit blurred on the subjects of the photo. Also, on a more subliminal level, almost, the flowers could be representing the beauty of love that is occurring in the "background" of the photo. Very well captured.

I didn't make the shot with a deeper meaning, but it's always fun to see someone find something regardless. Thanks Pete.

haha you're really doing th PS editing more and more now huh? It really helps sometimes and it can make normaly boring shots pretty good. I love what you did by changing the focuse from them, to the flowers. It offeres an interesting perspective and it avoids the shot from being cliche'.

Aww, that's kinda cute. yay for learning focusing and such. It's one of the most powerful photographics tools.

The fuzzy focus on the couple makes the impression they just snuck around the corner for a little secret kiss. but they are still identifiable which is nice since its a portrait and all. Very cute!

I think this would work a lot better if the red to the bottom left wasnt so brightly red, and if the white to the left wasnt so intrusive.

Again, always with the suggestions. Again, always appreciated.
In this case, I actually think the red helps to separate the foreground flowers from the background scene. Otherwise, the greens might blend into each other too well. I'm sure it'd look fine with the red gone.

Hmm... I disagree with the red thing. I like how it shows that we were in a garden.

The green and the flowers show that you are in a garden, but it seems like this is a casual romantic portrait, with the emphasis on the people, as opposed to the colourful garden.
Lets agree to disagree, yes? *wink*

Beautiful shot. I love how the couple are blurred in the background, and the focus on the flowers. Interesting perspective.

What's that filter you're speaking about?
Anyway, great shot. You know, I bet almost everyone would focus on the couple, but not you. Haha.
There's a 'dot' by his head which made me think it was a film photograph. I don't know why that's there.
In the thumbs, I thought it was you and Jensey until I saw the title. Doh. Who would take the photo? Oh. Mr Tripod.
Pocket Jensey's are great.
The positioning is really cool, and the colours are awesome too, but they're digitally enhanced. The use of the flower bush pushing them to the side is great, and his purple shirt putting a 'stop' to your eye from going off of the photo. That's really good too.
I think it'd be neater if there was just a wall of green behind them, instead of the buildings and what not making it a mirage of colours.
Details, details.

Ahh always beautiful, so eye-catching.. I'd kill (or at least maime) for a portrait like this of me or someone I loved.

That's a rewarding (if not odd) compliment. Instead of maiming, you could just hire me. hehe

Ahh I take pride in my oddness. Hiring you would take a good bit of money I'm sure, see my dilema?

I do see your dilemna. However, I'm new to this portrait business and arm therefore very, very cheap. At this point, a good portfolio is worth much more than a $200 photo session. So if you're in the Orlando area, bring along your significant other.

Ahh unfortunately I'm single, and always have been. I'll just grab some random person, force them in love with me, and haul them down to Orlando.
