Description
Pastiche to Pierre-Auguste Cot's Springtime . THIS IS MEANT TO BE A FUN IMITATION; DO NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY.I've always fancied the poses in this particular painting. Man, the background was a pain to paint.
Valken and Xeigle belong to me. I've never been so fanciful of a character's parents. Zy probably thinks otherwise.
Colored in openCanvas over a pencil sketch, give or take six hours.
This is still really fun. I wanna do another one.

omgosh!! i've always fancied that pose as well. my mom has a print of that painting that you took the pose from, which is how I came to love that painting.

What a sweet picture! The characters are so cute together!
The part of the picture that gave me the biggest "wow-factor" was the legs. They are shaded so nicely. I also love the skin tones (I've seen so many skin tones that look fake, but this is just so realistic). The whole piece is so warm and delightful. I feel like I should be sitting on a swing in the forest! It looks so warm and comfortable!
Two questions: 1) where can I find the original painting (I'd like to see how you changed it) and 2) who are the characters? Maybe you have more of them in your gallery... I will go check ^___^
Poof... six hours? In six hours I would have, maybe, a face.

lol, by that I mean that you captured the original mood of the piece very well and for those people who are familiar with the original piece it's very easy to see where you got your inspiration. Which is a good thing

Here is a link to a scan of the original. Some might not be familiar with it and may find it interesting to compare the two. [link]

Your link doesn't work for me, but I have put up a link now, thanks. I should stop assuming people can go look for the original themselves.

That is strange. I just checked it and it worked for me. Anyway it is definitely better to have it in your comments instead of mine so this is better. Yes people can go look up the original but most won't and I always think that if we can easily broaden peoples' artistic exposure then we should make the effort. So thanks for your comment and thanks for making the effort and great job on the drawing. If you are interested, I did a similar kind of thing with a Maxfield Parrish painting called Daybreak here [link]

its really beautiful, one thing i noticed though is that to me the heads don't seem to match the scene nor bodies, like they should be more realistic. know what i mean? it doesn't look weird or anything, so no worries there. just a thought.
