Pastiche to Pierre-Auguste Cot's Springtime . THIS IS MEANT TO BE A FUN IMITATION; DO NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY.I've always fancied the poses in this particular painting. Man, the background was a pain to paint.
Valken and Xeigle belong to me. I've never been so fanciful of a character's parents. Zy probably thinks otherwise.
Colored in openCanvas over a pencil sketch, give or take six hours.
This is still really fun. I wanna do another one.

I couldn't agree more with achiru. This is a beautiful piece with an adorable and dreamy theme. Either its because this picture is too overwhelming, or that I just woke up from an unwanted nap that I can't give a good critique.

You don't need to critique, this was just a fun exercise in copying (and in the end, what I got from it was patience with foliage). There is no way that is work represents me that much at all. It represents Cot more, I think. It is such a wonderful composition.

Even though an exercise, it's still quite beautiful. I suppose I'm hit hardest by love themes. You wouldn't mind if I put it as my desktop wallpaper, would you? If not, I understand.

I painted it over my pencil sketch. It's the sketchy pencil that throws people off going "it looks traditional!'

Okay, um.... I like everything except their heads/faces--they just don't fit on the bodies. It shouldn't be anime, it doesn't fit. The guy's head in particular is too small; the girl's face is just odd.
Other than the heads/faces, the anatomy is well done, as well as the colouring. The colour scheme is wonderful too. If they had real faces/fitting heads, this would be absolutely stunning. But, even still, it's a pretty nice piece!

Yeah, I know, which is why I dropped the "anime" face in cupid. But this is a fun exercise not meant to be taken seriously. I will agree that it looks odd and I don't really like this piece, as I didn't really create much of it, but I did learn from copying foliage about patience and plant composition in a forest. That's about it.
