Sarah Johansson , had clamped her jaw together and ducked away from her classmates when she heard the news that Hedwig was going to get to compete grand prix with a school horse. Ackerley Equine Centers High School wanted the publicity and it was a bit of a publicity stunt, but she still felt wronged. Hedwig came from a family that had no problem sponsoring her competitions when she was younger. Last year Hedwig had gotten to ride Riverfriend at Gut Caballo and won the dressage so she had already gotten to compete for Ackerley. Not to mention that Sarah was the better rider. Obviously she would never utter a word of jealousy, for she realized that was what this was. Instead she retreated to think over if she was being rational. After a full week of mulling it over she had come to the conclusion that teachers and students agreed, she was the most skilled show jumper in the high school. She had great technique and a good eye for distances. She also understood that Hedwig had competed internationally for a long time, before high school, and that her competition experience made her a better candidate for the initiatives. Sarah had no international experience and couldn't afford it anyway. She ended up feeling sad that it all came down to money and that she would have to work much harder to afford to get the kind of experience Hedwig already had, even though Hedwig was in the year below her. This was stuck in her head when she went to a meeting with the order and Alex noticed she was down. He pulled her aside when they were finished and asked her what was wrong. At first she brushed him off, feeling this was a private matter, but Alex pushed on. She ended up telling him how immature she was being for having trouble getting over not being picked and missing out on international competitions. To which Alex mainly smirked. She then whent on to tell him everything going on the last week. After listening quietly he told her that she had done very well at the competitions at Ackerley but she couldn't expect to just step up to international grand prix in one go. Sarah knew that, she didn't feel that Hedwig was the wrong candidate. Alex then continued with that if she wanted, he would talk to the headmistress about accompanying him to Germany and competing there. He was going to leave a couple of horses he was done with and said he should be able to convince the school that they didn't lose anything of an extra horse and student tagged along. It even helped the initiative, since AEC now could boast with helping multiple students compete. Sarah was beside herself. He then cautioned that she would have to do with whatever horse they picked and that he would be expecting her to help him the whole trip - this was no vacation. Sarah eagerly agreed, she's ride anything, work until she bled and skip sleep if she had to. Alex finished by saying "If anyone thinks Hedwig's cool for winning a grand prix in north America they are wrong, there's no competition there. You win a show in Germany and then we're talking!"
This is an entry for the show Gut Caballo's Autumn Event 5 ! I hope it shows that the fence is white.
