I started working on this animation back in early January 2020. I got the idea when my English class started working on our end-of-the-year senior project, which is an 18-minute presentation to the school on a topic of your choice. My topic of choice? A comparison of animation style between traditional (2D) and computer-generated (3D) animation. I created this animation in the traditional 2D style, with the hope of recreating it in a 3D animation style using Blender (lol I’m still pathetically trying to make the 3D Skittles model please send help). I’m pretty sure we present in late March (yikes that’s close!), so I probably won’t end up finishing my 3D version in time for the presentation (if at all).

Anyways, that’s my context for how this animation came to be! I’m so glad it’s done, because it took forever. I didn’t think the lighting would be so difficult! I was constantly hitting the 124 layer limit, and I had to keep making copies of the version I was on so that I could merge layers to make room for the new ones. I didn’t mean for the image to be so dark, but it’s a little late for me to make the changes that would brighten it without making it look funny. This was my first major, full-effort attempt at creating an animation. I’ve played around with animation before, but never actually brought myself to create a full animated gif. Unfortunately, I had to use the dithered version of the animation because I used way too many colors for Procreate to generate a non-dithered gif (oops), which makes the image a bit more gray and less saturated than it actually is. I really hope the gif works with DeviantArt! (NOTE: It looks way better on the website than it does in the mobile app!)
