I made it because I didn't think that these points were enough discussed in the Heta-games community

Sooooo true xD But it is generally hard to make a good horror game, atmosphere and music/SE are very important

Exactly, fear is very much relative to each individual

This Is interesting, I have a very far-fetched plan to make a 3D Thriller HetaGame similar to Majora's Mask which takes place over several locations in Europe. The main plot would be for there to be a book/Thing that was hidden in pieces all in different countries, Once all the pieces/Pages are collected you then gain access to a Mansion in South Tasmania (Tasmania is a southern Island state of Australia). The mansion has a room in which you then Restore the Book/Thing A plot twist happens and then there is a big boss fight. Just an idea that I probably won't make.

That surely sound ambitious! But don't get discouraged, I'd say that you should go for it and give it a try! Starting is never easy, but if you have the right programs/materials to do so, then nothing is stopping you! I wish you all the luck for this project, would certainly be very original from previous Heta-games

Seeing Hungary like that broke my heart..
I did feel without dark mapping, and the lack of SE made the horror less scarier. I mean, want a jumpscare? NOISE, people. NOISE.

What a useful guide!! Some of these things can be said for most RPG Horror games in general, too, which is really good. I'm definitely going to bookmark this for later use. Thank you for writing this!

thank you for assembling all of these tips in one place~! i don't know about others, but i agree with each and every one of them, and if i do ever try to create a horror game, i'll definitely remember your advice i especially agree that in horror games, the story and not some random battles/encounters should be the driving force. though sometimes, the lack of conversation makes the game meaningless, much like the deaths of characters if those are carried out too hastily and without care. to me, the most enjoyable part of the game is the story (in most cases)
anyways, thank you for writing this ^o^

You're very welcome, I hope they will be helpful to you and other readers
Thank you, then we might have a smiliar mentality! I'm glad that you agree with what I said, although inevitably other people are going to have their own tricks and opinions.
Yes, I understand what you mean. That's why I believe that characters should mostly (in horror games) say things relevant to the story/situation. A bit of messing around, jokes and nonsense are tolerable, but too much isn't good for the overall game. Of course we want to give the characters a personality and the easiest way to do that is through speech, but I believe that other ways should be encouraged.

Ora non so se all'epoca ci fossi riuscita, ma prima dell'update di Seychelles' Journey, io avevo lasciato intendere che ogni singola nazione fosse morta (cosa che Cina L'oracolo ha sfatato).
Ciononostante qualcuno in quel gioco morirà PER DAVVERO.

l'ho adottato
Ah, ok. Ci daro' un'occhiata quando posso ^_^
