The texture is stunning. I love it when you can see the paint, the layers, how it comes together. Great overall feel in this image.Β

I'd say your experimenting paid off. This is one of my favorite pieces currently.
I would like you to know that your work is a predominant inspiration of mine. Thank you, and excellent work!

man i can't begin to tell you how much i like this style.
i only wish i had the artistic guts to try oils again.
it's like looking at someone through a rain drenched window.
some stranger that's come to your door in the night.
perhaps wanting to use a phone because his car's broke down.
perhaps something more sinister is at hand.
oh shit.
i just noticed this is a SELF portrait!
uhm.
sorry about the serial killer allusion.
excellent piece.

Thanks! You're definitely not the first one... I didn't exactly have a happy mindset when I painted this.

I really like the colors, the way you used the paints and your brushstrokes, plus use of a pallet knife. Thank you.

Ah, this is just beautiful. Something I could never do. I need too much control and precision over my art, which makes me love and appreciate these rough textured pieces all the more. Fantastic job. I really enjoy the palette.

LOVE your technique, something about this, I just can't stop admiring it.
Was this done with palette knives?

A few strokes here and there with the knife, mostly just dry brushing.

It's so raw and rugged but yet, the face is so clear. Well done!
