Kara Quantum, or Quantum Kara, is something of a happy accident, since i have, without realising it created a very striking and very much my own, superheroine character.After using the look in my fanstory for a Captain Atom enhanced Powergirl, i realised i really liked the look, and i couldn't just leave it gathering dust. So here she is, "Kara Quantum", my own character for my own superhero stories when i feel like it.
Better yet she has a nice alternate backstory from my fanfiction version already laid out, being the child ( happy accident ? a poor joke, sorry ) of two of Earth's most powerful defenders, she was gifted with physically superhuman abilities much like her mothers from birth, but her powers really increased once she hit her teenage years with her displaying abilities comparable to her fathers energy/matter manipulation. Coupled with her direct attitude towards most problems, she is formidable.
Her weaknesses however include a vulnerability to certain types of obscure radioactive material and to the strain of keeping control over her vast energies.
At the very least she is as original if not more so than "Supreme", "Superior", "Hyperion" or "Sentry".

Adam, if I am reading this right, in your alternate backstory, this Kara Quantum is not PeeGee, but perhaps the daughter of Captain Atom (Nathaniel) and Powergirl (Kara Rao), perhaps the child of their night of passion? Gotta tell you, I LOVE the idea!
has done a number of commissions in which Powergirl (Kara) becomes pregnant by Superman and develops a family. Love the idea of a pregnant Powergirl, but it's still a little too "keeping it in the family". Don't know if Kryptonians would be affected as Kara Zor-L (Rao) was from alternate Earth, but in real life, inter-family sexual relations can trigger problems with hemophilia. Reference the Russian Romanov dynasty and the problems they had with intermarriage.
I would much rather see Kara be impregnated by a male not connected to the Zor-El (or Zor-L) bloodline, and Captain Atom is a wonderful choice and he is already in Kara Rao's life and heart.

That idea is petty much the inspiration. I couldn't leave such a striking looking character design alone, but i wanted Powergirl to go back to her traditional look, so this way i get my own creation to make stories for, and can continue with my Powergirl fanstory.
