A picture of my favourite DC couple that never was but could have been, although it is worth noting that they were remarkably solid friends and comrades whenever writers remembered their days in 'Justice League Europe' ( the series where she picked up her beloved cat ).
In many respects it was a fun relationship that deserved more attention but tended to be ignored by the writers who followed from Giffen and DeMatteis, As far as i can tell the writers who followed from them either didn't know, didn't care, or couldn't be bothered to check, largely until the Justice League Generation Lost story of 2011 ( again i give credit to Judd Winick for that final story before the New 52 reboot wiped it all away ). Nathaniel/Captain Atom and Kara/Powergirl were good friends, although i think Atlee/Terra pips him as Powergirls best friend in the old DC Universe.
Sadly with the New 52 DC Universe as it stands, it is unlikely any of them will ever rekindle any friendship.

Thanks, i spent a while trying out the metal effect, eventually i just got lazy with more recent pictures
I kept meaning to have a go with the fonts on DA but i never got around to it.

Not a romantic one. They were portrayed as initially not caring for each other when they first met, and then they developed into firm friends who pretty much enjoyed each others company while complaining and bantering about things when they were both in the Justice League. But it was largely forgotten or ignored by other writers for years.
I feel it was a missed opportunity since they had a good established friendship to build on and it really wouldn't have taken much for a writer to just push it towards a romantic pairing with far more credibility than any of Powergirls official relationships.
