Part of an ongoing series of questions and answers for Powergirl, when i can remember to draw it
I seem to do one per a year.Now all of this is purely non cannon, that said i think it fits the 1987-2011 version of the character as she was before the 2011 reboot ( although i think it fits the character who popped up in the New 52's Conner/Palmiotti Harley Quinn series )
In the first panel couldn't resist taking a dig at the mid 2000's 'i couldn't think of what to fill the hole in my costume' reason for her choice of costume style since it did the character a disservice.
The second panel is for a question that has been asked about Superman as much as Power Girl, how can they look so muscular when their super strength should negate muscle building ?, to which all i can suggest is they benefit from being Kryptonians and were probably genetically engineered to reach a particular body shape.
Panel three is a direct reference to the recent Harley Quinn series, where the two sort of bonded in an adventure. Power girls actual best friend is arguably Atlee ( just going past Captain Atom ) .

Pretty much. I just couldn't help but have Harley ( who has managed to make friends with Atlee and sort of with Power Girl ) gatecrash

And then Athlee arrived and both her and Harley prepared to fight to the death. But then Karen brought an unholy amount of icecream and they all spend a nice evening together. The end.

To be honest the unholy amount of Ice cream scenario sounds much more likely, only with the addition of some random alien/supercriminal to barge in for a beating. Besides, we all know Mr Cat would win any fight to the death

Personally I'm fine with her being a kryptonian from another universe... though I care more for Karen's character rather than the origin itself

I haven't touched on her origin in these chatbacks, i might have to have a think about doing one on that. The only origin that really irritates me is the New 52 one, since it managed to spoil the character.

to be fair, i'm pretty sure the symbol thing was back when she still had a bunch of different conflicting origins, so maybe it was an identity crisis

Maybe, but this was by the same writer who seemed to ignore the characters extensive time in the Justice League International so that she fitted into being a lonely woman with no ties or friends outside of the Justice Society.
She had two origins, a Kryptonian origin and a refugee from ancient Atlantis origin that ran it's course by the mid 1990's.

The handling of Power Girl was a bit weak to be honest, there is nothing wrong with a writer adding a touch of vulnerability to build depth, but it has to fit the character.

I like these Chatbacks. My observation is that nowadays it's inappropriate to hassle anyone about their attire. For good or bad, dress codes are no longer enforced. There are a lot of rough necks going around with controversial clothes, but no sensible person would confront them unless they were willing to risk being beaten up. While Kara wouldn't do that to a rude person, harassing her is not a good idea.

Thanks, i keep meaning to draw them more often. I have to agree that attitudes to clothes does seem to vary. I think it would depend on who harassed her and what they said, her response could vary from a sharp witty reply to a punch

Ya it would definitely be Atlee...would've been interesting to see how far their relationship would've progressed had Conner/Palmiotti stayed at the helm another year
But Harley does have a thing for PeeGee -- would love to see her shoehorn herself into her life

Hard to say, although elements seem to have floated into the Starfire comic with a more mature Atlee mentioning being friends with Power Girl ( and slapping New 52 continuity in the face
I kind of like the idea of Harley having a peculiar friendship with Power Girl ( and Wonder Woman, the recent story she featured in was fun ), her general strait laced and uptight character plays well with Harley and her quirkiness.

I kind of hate people that criticize/make fun of her costume. 99% of those people don't even read comics or watch the cartoons lol.

I think you're right, they also tend to be the same people who make sweeping assumptions about her character, although the New 52 Earth 2 version muddied that with a personality reversal and a former Supergirl origin.
If Atlee hadn't been created i could have argued Captain Atom was her best friend, but Atlee slipped in to take the position

Their adventure in the Harley Quinn comic and the additional mini-series they featured in that filled in the gaps, was a fun story. Well worth reading if you haven't read it, and Harley does push her luck too far by the end
