Monarch's frustrations with Kara had led to him being distracted from his service of Lord Darkseid, somehow driving forth the war had become secondary to his...infatuation with the woman he barely had any true recollection of, and frankly he found her strength of character disagreeable in spite of her physical charms.

That and the fact every time he had approached her in that cell he had felt as though he was being drained in a painful manner. Perhaps it was some residue of his former nature attacking him psychologically.

When the proximity alarms sounded he welcomed the distraction from his thoughts, his armour was still being repair by the lowlies of the outpost but if he were honest, he felt it was increasingly cumbersome. As he exited the walls of the outpost he saw a near laughable sight approaching.

Maxima, Kara's whelp, and a pod of Space Dolphins ?, Monarch laughed chillingly,

" So, all seeking revenge on me for kidnapping your friend and destroying Lobo ? Do you really think you stand a chance against me ? "

His hands glowed as he channeled raw quantum energy and blasted the group. Only to be shocked that they were still coming towards him.

The Almerac bitch! He hadn't realised she could project force fields, however she clearly could not attack him mentally if she was busy protecting the group, Monarch launched another stream of energy and moved towards them.

" So tell me Maxima, do you think i will grow weary ? i can keep this up far longer than you can protect your pitiful band of allies. So tell me what did you hope to achieve with this distraction ? "

Maxima, holding Atlee close to ensure her protection smiled viciously " Precisely Lord Monarch " was her mocking reply.

" What ? " Would have been Monarchs next response had he not been jumped on by an enraged Lobo.

" SURPRISE YA FRAGGIN GEEK ! " Lobos arms and hands wraped themselves around Monarchs head, with the clear intention to rip it off. Monarch was in no doubt that without his armour to protect him Lobo might well be capable of doing him such an injury.

" GET... OFF ME... YOU.... INSECT !! " Monarch bellowed as he redirected his power to obliterate Lobo. It cause Lobo to release Monarch but in spite of the energy Lobo seemed to shrug it off and dive straight back into the fight,

" You just don't get it do ya fragface, i got your measure pal, and with no armour to protect you this time buddy, you're mine"

" Imbecile " was Monarch response as the pair began to trade blows and insults.

" Fink " was Lobo's retort as he struck Monarch in the groin.

" You just won't stay dead " Monarch said painfully through gritted teeth.

Vartox had not been happy with not being part of the main attack but he understood his role, leaving his vessel a distance away the Hyperman had picked up a sufficent sized meteor, and was gathering speed with it. Eventually Atlee would direct it to where it needed to go.

Atlee could feel the Meteor come within range, she soulc have hurled rocks from all around but not with enough force to cause Monarch injury. But this would do the job.

Lobo had just about positioned Monarch right, as Monarch blasted Lobo away, Monarch couldn't help but wonder why Lobo suddenly stopped trying to attack him. It was then he saw the shadow increasing in size around him. He tried to move but once more Maxima's mental powers held him still.

" No " was his last word as the meteor struck...
