Description
Here's a before-and-after comparison of the detail to my book cover.[link]
I drew the piece with PITT pens and COPIC markers on Strathmore Drawing paper, scanned it, and colorized it using Adobe Photoshop CS2.
A few people have asked me to show what changes from grayscale lineart to final color, and hopefully this shows what the process entails.

Do you always work using COPIC markers AND Photoshop when you normally do your covers, or do you just photoshop over the line art?
By the by, I purchased this art book and it is both fantastic and educational. Everyone should buy it.

Wow! Big difference from one to the other, but I have to say, each have it's own kind of magic. Love them both. One day... one day I'll be able to attend a Comic Con and get to shake your hand.

Beautiful work, of course and very nice of you to show the side-by-side comparo. It looks like you upped the contrast and smoothed out some of the texture as well; do you smudge or blur on a case-by-case basis or mask and use filters/adjustment layers? Love how much of the original media and technique is preserved.

Thanks for showing this! I really like it. I actually have this pic hanging up in my room from a flyer for your signing @ Heroes later this month. I'd come, but I'm going to SCAD the very next day and I'll be too busy.

I was one of the people who voted WOW, this is amazing, I really, REALLY need to learn to use those. I love the realism and expression, did you create this face mentally or did you have a source of inspiration for it? Excellent job!

Very interesting to see. I watched you at Heroescon working up that gorgeous Art Nouveau piece and wondered what paper you like to use for your Copic work. Good to know it's good old Strathmore.

I really like how you portray Catwoman. A lot of the times, artists potray her as mysterious and almost moody. Here, she's more playful, which I like better. Kudos!

It is the detail of your artbook. Once you color your artline give a blur? face because the color is very soft, just the brightness. Congratulations on your wonderful work and for sharing with us. Greetings
