Description
This is a convention sketch I did for Carrie Fisher, back in November 2006 in NYC. We were seated next to each other, and every time she had to leave her table she had to bump behind my chair, apologizing. We ended up having fun, so I did this sketch for her. STAR WARS was a very big deal for me growing up!Related content

I laughed hard at this one. But wouldn't that lightsaber be cutting through whatever it was leaned on?

It's not a real lightsaber. It's one of those Master Replicas Force FX Lightsaber prop replicas with the light-up blade. It's actually an in-joke from the day...

Oh, Carrie Fisher, you lovely woman. This is excellent (as alwaysβbecause you're ADAM HUGHES!) and just screams "I'M THE REAL CARRIE FISHER!"
You know how many times I've had to point out that SHE'S the chick with the flamethrower and M-16 in The Blues Brothers to people who've only seen her as Leia? Too often.

I was about to ask, because that is so Carrie Fisher. I don't know her personally, but from her interviews and writings.

Just out of curiosity...
Do you find that alot of celebrities recognize your work. you've done some wonderful pieces on buffy, starwars(movie based) Indiana Jones etc., and so im wondering if the actors ever commend you on your work or ever seek you out for private commisions. that would be so cool.

The only celebrity I've ever drawn that has recognized the work and complimented was Nathan Fillion, Capt. Mal from Firefly/Serenity. He was amazingly cool & complimentary about the work I'd done of him.

"Vitamins (Honest, kids!)"
Priceless! I love how Carrie Fisher can laugh at herself, given what she's gone through. Most people wouldn't be able to.

She confessed to being a major party-girl in her tell-all biography (as well as on Letterman).
I think you should have hit on her--just as a rights of passage to tell your kids,"Hey, I had a thing going with Princess Leia.".
