For those who don't know, this magazine is perhaps the BEST magazine on the digital artform. Everything from complete coverage on new tech and tutorials down to the way each issue is laid out is top notch. I have consistantly bought this magazine and unlike many "tutorial" based mags, this one never dulls. I look forward to this issue more than normal.

Just great, Adam, absolutely great. It's very cool to read through the comments and see your responses to questions. Everyone of your pieces seems like a clinic on how to do it the "holy crap I can't stop staring at this artwork" way.
You rock dude.

Quanic2000 [2011-02-01 20:50:01 +0000 UTC]

AMAZING!!! Question though, for the white highlights, do you leave that portion white on the paper and carefully color around? or do you use the white paint to add in the highlights over the copics?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AdamHughes In reply to Quanic2000 [2011-02-01 21:56:39 +0000 UTC]

Both. Sometimes I intend to leave the white of the paper, and it ends up not being white enough... sometimes a highlight occurs to me after I've done all my marker tones.

Quanic2000 In reply to AdamHughes [2011-02-02 07:33:43 +0000 UTC]

Thank you Mr. Hughes! Which technique did you use on the highlights for this piece in particular? It appears to me as you added the highlights after. Correct me if I am wrong.

Also, Copic makes their own set of fineliners, or black technical pens in various sizes that do not bleed when colored over by the Copics. Any particular reason as to why you use the PITT Pens?

AdamHughes In reply to Quanic2000 [2011-02-02 17:25:53 +0000 UTC]

I added the highlights after. The white of the paper wasn't quite white enough...

I have yet to try the COPIC fineliners. I was using the PITTs before I ever even got my first COPIC set. I'll try the COPIC fineleiners sometime....

Will the tutorial give an insight into how you do your marker works? Because I would lay down good money for you to make a video tutorial. I think there is enough of a market.

Ive been dumbfounded by your skills countless times over the year but I must say, never moreso than at this moment. Youre a sorcerer, a bloody witch! My brain keeps telling me your face should be reflecting in that latex. Seriously, man. Wow. And I LOVE the fact that youre showing that stuff like this CAN be done by hand. Ill be eagerly awaiting the finished product.

I just wanted to say that I love those blacks, this is one of those pieces where my mouth water and I wish so hard for art to be edible :9
Also it's great seeing how patient you are with answering those same questions over and over again, it gives me hope in humanity

Thanks for saying so. I DO wish sometimes people would take a moment and read the item description for answers, as well as the other posts, before asking me the same question for the 49th time.
