So, the client said "Adam, draw me some fish. I want all the bells and whistles!" I love it.

haha! actually, it was even more peculiar! the client said to everyone in an illustration class (that I wasn't in) to draw something with bells and whistles, and then she'd choose one to publish in her magazine. everyone did the assignment, but the client didn't really like any of them, so she postponed her selection. during the time she was waiting, I said, "well, if she didn't like any of theirs, maybe she'll like mine!" and I cooked this up lickety-split. I showed it to the client, and she loved it, and decided to publish it in her magazine!

Oh right, nice one! It's funny, whenever anyone asks me where I get my inspiration from I never say it's the ritualistic leather carvings of the peruvian pig hunter, or that I'm fascinated by by the patterns made by frost on chicory leaves or whatever, I always say the brief's my inspiration. Maybe some people find that a bit creepy or that I'm sucking up to the client, but it's true. Kudos!

yeah kinda true about the bubbles (what `loish said), when i gave it a second look.. so how did you do those bubbles anyway? since they're too round and perfect compared to the fishes eyes (which are lovely :})

reallly awesome piece, love the lighting and the horizontal composition! it has a great sense of depth. i think the bubbles are too noticably digital compared to the rest of the work though.
