Thank you very much for such a high praise !
I'm really happy to hear such comments on it. As for the size, I upload all of my commissioned works at low resolution, it's just the way it is. My private work should all be in hi-res and available for download though
Thanks for the tip with the glow on clouds - I will add some of it, will surely make it feel more dramatic.

I just read "Triplanetary", and there is a scene similar to this!

Thanks. It's just doing its job, let's pretend the city is full of evil people

Really like this piece. Would make a great poster of book cover. Nice one.

Thanks a lot It was meant to be an alternative shot of the ship but it ended up being a few times more popular than the original.

Lovely piece. I particularly like your ship design.
The only thing is, three beams go into the clouds but only two come out

AdamKop In reply to Jburns272 [2012-10-29 14:28:24 +0000 UTC]
Thanks The third beam just fired and is going through the clouds. I guess I could have shortened it so that it could actually end before the cloud level.

No problem
Ah. Talk about timing.

Man, this is an awesome render! The sense of scale is brilliant

Thanks ! The ship might be overscaled a bit (not much though) but I really wanted it to be menacing

Reminds me of a salt-water sunfish with that long lower fin, menacing. Ok, Adam you're rocking some nice scene narrative illustrations so how about some larger resolutions....wanna see MOAR details!

I would, but commissions are always uploaded at lower sizes - either that or a watermark

when i looked at the thumbnail, i thought it was some zeppelin or something

AdamKop In reply to Lord-Martini [2012-10-23 07:15:27 +0000 UTC]
Haha this one is more badass though
Well, unless we take the zeppelins from Command & Conquer games - they dropped bombs as well and could withstand Anti-Aircraft fire for a moment

Nice! You've been busy. I like the lasers pulling the clouds toward the ground with them.

Thanks ! The clouds pushing/pulling was probably the last detail I added and I'm glad someone saw that

Impressive ! The spaceship is like a shark, so dangerous ! The background is really amazing, I like the sunset tonalities and the light on the sea of clouds.

AdamKop In reply to Feliane [2012-10-20 08:42:49 +0000 UTC]
Thanks a lot ! This angle really does look good on the ship, makes it look sleeker than it actually is. As for evening/morning shots, I will probably be making more of that style now apart from my typical stars settings.

Feliane In reply to AdamKop [2012-10-20 08:59:16 +0000 UTC]
Sure, I approuve, this style is very beautiful (arr, my English is too poor... ^^). Do not hesitate to make other sceneries like that !

Thanks I might even rerender some of my older ships in more moody scenery in the future.
And I see no problem with your english, everything is perfectly clear

Good idea
In fact my English is very basic, I suck at writing more precisely my feelings about pictures... ^^'

Is it attacking the city with kinetic drops like in the last picture?
π: 0 β©: 1
AdamKop In reply to tonystardreamer [2012-10-20 07:06:08 +0000 UTC]
Well the kinetics are supposed to be dropped from orbit, but I guess that with a little blast at the start it would work here as well
π: 0 β©: 1
tonystardreamer In reply to AdamKop [2012-10-21 00:06:37 +0000 UTC]
Well since the explosions were kinda small, it was because the kinetics didn't have enough time in the air to build up the momentum to cause widespread damage. But what do you envision they are using to fire upon the helpless city?
π: 0 β©: 1
AdamKop In reply to tonystardreamer [2012-10-21 06:41:25 +0000 UTC]
I'm not an expert in weapons, but I guess some kind of mixed bombs - ones that set on fire due to the air friction but also have a pretty good starting speed, so that they hit with power.

tonystardreamer In reply to AdamKop [2012-10-24 17:23:46 +0000 UTC]
I'm not an expert in weapons ether but that like sounded pretty good idea.

So much about this is absolutely masterful. The color of the clouds, the sun glowing off of them, the blast bursting through the clouds. My man, this is breathtaking!

You weren't kidding, were you? Damnit... that's epic! Heavy rain in this forecast for sure! Very nice perspective and the angle works very well. That's one of the few times I've actually seen the camera at cloud level (normally that'd be done with water), so, definitely different (in a very good way!) Me likey!

Thanks I was inspired by a picture of Dubai where clouds (or fog actually) was holding really low above the skyscrapers and this picture : [link]
Heavy rain for sure

Wow. That looks like the suspicious rain cloud that seems to appear above my head everytime I step outside to walk somewhere ... vicious little things those rain clouds.

Haha you're out of luck I guess On the contrary my town was located in a place that had the lowest recorded rainfalls (it was built 70 years ago) so if you see clouds, you can be sure they will go the other way

overseer In reply to AdamKop [2012-10-20 07:50:44 +0000 UTC]
I live near the water, so... here the weather is a lottery. You can walk a mile and experience sunshine, fog AND rain and then sunshine again within the timespan of 30 minutes. It's entertaining...
