Description
edit, Jun 2013: Came back and re-worked this piece after the fortress popped up in the storyboards for a new chapter I'm working on. Still one of my favorite pieces; I just brought the character models up to date and added a little light and atmosphere (download if you want the big version). Looking forward to sharing a big chunk of Echo's story soon!"You can approach Lionskeep by land, or even by sea, through the harbor at the base of the rock pillar. But nothing reveals its glory like a descent from above; a glimmering jewel perched atop Laaki falls. Part fortress, part palace, Lionskeep harbors the worlds most extensive library, making it a destination for scholars and philosophers from lands near and far. Its as safe a place as any in this world, Echo, and your keen mind will find many kindred spirits there."
Another step towards developing my creator-owned book, title still pending.
edit: opened up the space a bit by getting rid of the nearest eagle head.
edit 2: Hiro comes to join the fun.
edit 3: ! Very appreciative and humbled by the DD, and so glad that its for a piece with my own characters and story (still very much in the works at this point). Thank you very much to and , and to all of the very encouraging comments and faves. I'm terrible at responding to comments anyway, and my backlog just got a bit larger (

Awesome perspective! The eagles had better be huge because they otherwise wouldn't be able to carry a human. Please don't make this Pidgey-carrying-a-human-thing going on in Pokemon. Congrats on the DD!

Thanks; and these are totally massive, LOTR style eagles.

Yeah, but totally impregnable! I was thinking of secret tunnels down through the rock column, beneath the level of the ocean, to smuggle in food and supplies. Seige-proof!

I love everything about this, especially the perspective! Is there more beneath the clouds? More platforms and buildings and passages or is it just one REALLY big tower and the top is just a sort of landing area/extension? Amazing idea.

Thanks, glad you like it. The fortress sits on a cliff at the edge of a plateau; you can just see the river that splits around the entry way. But its the biggest structure around; I have some sketches seen from the distance, and the building is kind of a landmark.

Thanks; took about 2 days of work, stretched out in little hour sized chunks, maybe a week and a half total.
