I love modern shoe design. I just think a lot of the designs they're selling are really weird, yet cool. Like they're combining a bunch of weird colors, textures, and patterns into footwear that works aesthetically. I don't know, I just like them.

I saw a challenge online to design a cyborg samurai, and while looking up reference, I came across cyberpunk fashion and thought it might be interesting to really push outside my comfort zone in terms of color design. This is where the weird shoes come in.

I wanted to combine the traditional Japanese robes with a youthful/ gaudy color scheme/ shoes. I went through a ton of different color directions, but went with this one because it still has a heroic character vibe.

I want to do more in this sort of style, because a part of me thinks this isn't gaudy enough. And because it was so much fun to do.
