Description It pleases me no end to see that some farmers leave these beautiful grass trees standing. They grow so slowly that these have probably taken a couple of hundred years to get to this size and yet on new housing developments, they knock them down as though they were weeds.

These trees never cease to fascinate me even after 30 years of my first sighting of them.

I appreciate that we each have our unique environments BUT there are times when I soooooooooo envy the island continent.

Damn nice photo, too.

I can't tell you how grateful I am to have been able to choose Australia as my adopted country. I'm originally from UK.

They're amazing Eve...not seen anything like them. Can't say that I'm surprised by housing developer's attitude - the combination of ignorance and greed is even stronger in that sector of society than almost any other. imho of course. Sorry for the mini-rant.

You are very welcome to rant here.

I was fascinated with the Australian bush plants from the moment we arrived here in 1971, and that fascination has never waned.

Excellent capture, Eve I have to agree with you about the wanton destruction of things just for progress. It's really sad to see that happen. You say it more eloquently though.
