Description
Behold, the second and third story pages from Empowered vol. 6, the latest book in my ongoing "sexy superhero comedy" series published by Dark Horse Comics. The volume opens with a riff about the Empverse's version of a certain well-known TV show, hosted by the indefatigable "Makro", a character I first showed on dA here:Note that Makro's nature was quickly sussed out by commenters on that piece of artwork, despite my earnest attempts to be vague and evasive about her role in the book... Oh, well. Note also the first appearance of a big ingot of "Impregnium X", a material which will become a bit of a plot point down the line (well, maybe way down the line, to be honest).
Anyhoo, Empowered vol. 6 should be on the shelves of your Local Comics Retailer by now, and on the shelves of your local bookstore shortly. (Well, maybe not the latter, as bookstores in my neck of the woods, at least, seem none too keen on stocking the title.) The book can also be ordered online at Dark Horse's retail website [link] or on Amazon.com [link] . Note that links for ordering the previous five books (and the "floppy" comics-format one-shot, "The Wench with a Million Sighs,") can also be found at those sites... Hint, hint.
Here's the book's back-cover copy (located next to Makro's color image):
After a fiery disaster claims the lives of several teammates, costumed crimefighter “Empowered” stumbles upon an ugly little secret of the masks-and-tights business: a growing number of ill-fated superheroes have found out the hard way that, while their bodies are still mortal, their superpowers are not... Now, only our downtrodden but doggedly determined heroine can rescue the (semi-)living superdead from a quite genuine “fate worse than death,” while simultaneously grappling with the challenges of phallospear harassment, car-trunk carpetburn, superhero fantasy leagues, excessive bedroom chatter, and deals with the devil both figurative and literal! All this, plus Empowered’s not-so-secret origin is revealed at last!
And here's the volume's title page:
You can check out a 10-page preview from the book here: [link] A bazillion more images, illos and comics pages from Empowered can be found in this gallery folder: [link]

There are more original ideas in those two pages than you'll find in a full month of Big Two comics. Supersting Bandsaw. Anti-Cherubim chum. Lava Wranglers. SuperDirtyJobs.
Good grief and good work, mon frere.

Great work as always, but I have to say, the "anti-cherubim -> anti-putti" correction is what brought the biggest smile to my face. It's SO nice to see someone get that distinction correct. And even more so when it's a super who talks like a pirate.

"Impregnium" as impregnable, or "impregnium" as impregnated?

I intentionally didn't read comments on posts about her because I wanted to be surprised and I gotta say it was worth it. I laughed my morning drink right up my nose when I read her name was Makro and this is my job.
Well played, sir. Well played.

I support this.
You always see the Supes and Green Lanterns doing what is essentially glorified bureaucracy.
But once that is done, someone needs to do the hard work: The cages that trap the Old Ones from beyond time and space will not clean themselves, someone has to forge the sword that can cut atoms in half... and on and on.
Keep it up Makro.

You should also do a parody of Myth Busters!

well, you should find it in a few specialized shops; but i've read here and there that you could even find it in the "album" chain
Amazon.co.uk shipped mine saturday, it's still cheaper than getting it from the states
bon maintenant si tu les veux en francais, vu qu'il y a que 2 tomes parus et que le troisième sort en novembre, va falloir être patient
