Description Published piece from Green Ronin's Mutants & Masterminds RPG supplement, Worlds of Freedom. Since the book is FINALLY out, I can show these pieces.

Worlds of Freedom is a collection of alternate and historical settings for the M&M 'Freedom City' campaign world. It's like an 'Infinite Earths' or 'Multiverse' idea, but also has historical eras for their core setting. That's where Comf and I come in. We were given the entire 'Freedom by Gaslight' chapter to illustrate!

Now, little did the M&M folks know, but steampunk victorian era stuff is among my very favorite. I ran a Ravenloft RPG campaign for around five years that was very gothic-victorian, so this project was right up my alley.

I'm really proud of this one. I'd felt pretty confident in my ability to do metal objects up to this point, but this one set me at ease. I also figured out some great tricks for rusty, dingy metal to boot. Gotta love it when you can learn something AND like the piece you learned it on! Usually you'd shudder to let anybody see your 'learning experiences'

Just stumbled upon this gem. I love the robots' design; the rows of bicycle sprockets in their shoulders look like a heck of a pinching hazard, Very menacing.

Yeah, look out anybody with long hair or a bushy beard! That would NOT be pleasant!

It reminds me of a book I read a while ago called 'The Invention of Hugo Cabaret'. It centralized on this kid trying to repair an old, clockwork mechanical man that he salvaged from a burnt-down museum. It was a decent story, but I especially liked the numerous illustrations.

Anyway, this was done very well. I like the texture with the leather straps.

Thanks. Looking at it now, I think I might have overdone the leather texture a bit. I maybe should have backed off the opacity by another 10% or so. Still, it ain't bad!

You know what this looks like to me. Bloody home invasion, but the party doin the invading? Those (asuming) British gits. This looks like they were waiting for the robots to come home from a delightful night on the town, why else would they shine themselves up so. And as soon as the happy family got home those bastards sprung.

Like any reasonable metal family monster, he's stunned, as his body language clearly shows. He also probably saying thing like, "Don't do anything drastic bunny, they look a couple of loonies these do."
His wife on the has completely broken down. (his wife is the robot on the left with the glass boobie. heehee.) I can actually hear her say things like, " we Don't have the Blood you crave!!" And of course the daughter in the back is all like, "UHlgh?!"

How could you intentionally draww something like this? How can you make people of any nationality break into some robot's house and screamn nonsense at them. There's no reason for it. "Get the stick Don't get the stick! OOOOOOOOO?" No senseable family monster is going to understand that. And quite frankly I don't either.

You disgust me.
(great job by the way.

...and then the Brits ate all their robot-porridge, drank the whiskey from their jar-oh, and over-taxed their tea without allowing them representation in Robot Parliament. Bastards.

There is no justice in this world, and there never was.

I was merely a simple man with a dream of killing all humans. But you responded with fear and hatred, forming a cruel mob. I ask you - who is the REAL monster here? Not I.

...not I.

You bet not! Those guys get one shot off, and then are mauled while trying to reload. Ugh. Not a good day by any standard

Kudos for them fulfilling their duty though. They have to know this'll end only in tears, but they'll still do it.

I figure it more as one of those moments of blinding fear where all you have are your instincts to keep you from just passing out right there. The guys have guns, they see a freakish enemy that can't be stopped, and they fire on reflex. They don't realize the situation they're in until it's too late, sadly.

They're not completely lost though...those muskets make good bludgeoning devices!

Not that this'll stop those things of course lol.

True enough. They have some heft, too, so you could get a pretty good swing. Still, I'm giving this one to the robots.

RBL-M1A2Tanker In reply to AdamWithers [2008-02-17 21:17:12 +0000 UTC]

Yea, I think the robots have this one. They look like the won the initiative roll, and could probably do +10 damage per attack lol.
