Commission from Heroes 2011; copic marker, ink, white paint pen.When I got this commission, I about cried I was so happy. How much fun is this fight? Not only do Comfort and I love when people commission us for our own characters, but WITH the Avatar crew? Only my favorite cartoon EVER?! And possibly my favorite character from the show? Yes please and thank you!
So drawing Toph fighting Quake, I knew immediately that she'd win. She's got way more control and diversity, whereas Quake pretty much just breaks things with localized earthquakes. He's starting to get some level of earth control, but it's nothing like Toph. Even better, the image of a little girl kicking the crap out of 19-year-old Quake made me laugh a lot, so here's what you get.

Yeah, well... it's Toph. She's no ordinary 13-year-old. And when he tells the story, it was actually a group of, uh, 30-year-old, uh, dudes. Big ones. With tattoos and beards. And they, uh, they cheated and that's the only way they won. Yeah.

It's really lose-lose. If she beats him, he lost to a 13-year-old. If he beats her, how good could he possibly feel about kicking the poop out of a little girl? There's no way he can come out on top, here.

The idea for it actually hit me after I read your blog post on the Baltimore comic con last year. You had said you love it when people ask for commissions of your characters and you loved the Toph sketch so it hit me to put Quake and Toph together for one awesome sketch.

A great example of when two great things can combine to make one awesome thing. As opposed to Laser-Sharking, where two great things combine to make one lame thing.
