Personaly, I think what could be wrong is that in a way a lot of your stuff has twists and turns and seems abstract. This...is just straight on so it seems more "borring" then the others

I think you're right on that one. I'll play with angles today and see what comes of it. But with the right color scheme, it adds a lot of depth and refraction and reflection and pseudo-lighting, but so much of the center is tied into one xform, that the coloring is really wonky.
