UPDATE: Post work in Photoshop: Brightened it up a bit due to comments about it being too dark. I believe those people were right. So here is the edited version.UPDATE2: More post work in Photoshop: Took Magoda's advice and darkened the middle with a burn tool, left the outside brighter, and gave the ridges shadows.
What do you think now?

i think the middle shouldn't be whats lighter...i think you should make the middle darker again, just less dark then before. instead brighter then outside a bit so the eyed follows the lack of light into the center of the piece.
