Description A commissioned painting of the Eighth Doctor and River on a muddy battlefield, but only one of them is really there.

Inspired by a scene from the heartbreaking and amazing "Dark Eyes" audio series; the quote is from the TV episode "The Husbands of River Song."

You can see the WIPs for this painting and -many- other upcoming River/Doctor pieces on my Patreon !

This is stunningly beautiful!! The Eighth Doctor is probably my favorite. And I don’t really know why, but I LOVE the idea of Eight and River being together!

Oh wow!  This is so lovely!  Not unlike my "Rose for the Doctor" painting, but with Eight and River and battle grounds and tragedy and things.  Ha ha ha.  So beautiful!

I often wonder about why are people (myself very much included) so obsessed about this motif, which I call "the Pieta" (I think it's pretty obvious why). Expressing the grief of Mary in art was the main subject of contemplation since the Middle Ages, when contemplation became more and more important beside the sheer belief in dogmas, and since then, we can observe a lot of approaches on the theme. And now, anything that wants to be dramatic is having a sacrifice, which usually result in a "pieta" scene. Why are people so obsessed with others dramatically dying? Apparently, it's ancient. And it never loses its power

(Also, this is a great example and it absolutely "does the thing")

Thank you for your comment, but he is not dying, and that is not the theme of this painting.

Please don't take this as an offense or anything. I didn't mean it. It was just a sheme that caught my eyes, one lying, wounded and vulnerable, the other is being with him in a loving, caring, worrying way.... that atmosphere these types represent... not only in pictures, in books and movies too.... ehh I can't really explain myself anyways. Please don't misunderstand me. My mind is corrupted into thinking is shemes and types, this is what is expected from me on uni and all... so sorry about it, I don't mean to be rude or anything. I love your style and I love your pictures, especially the DW themed ones. I just tend to think too much and express it the wrong way. Sorry about that.

Amazing! I'd love a similar piece between River and Six from the second volume of The Diary of River Song.

Very tragically romantic.

They tried to do too much on the US series pilot, and I don't think those not Whovians got it; I think a McGann series would have been an interesting Doctor experience.

Of course, I thought Silvester McCoy, much like Colin Baker, was unfairly criticized -- both loved the role and wanted to do a good job. The writing wasn't the best during their tenure, sometimes there was little attempt at continuity, and there were machinations in the BBC board room that left a lot of casualties.

On the reboot, Chris Eccleston was good, but David Tenant seized that role and made it his, and he surpassed my decades-long favorite, Tom Baker. Many of the William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton episodes weren't available for US airplay (PBS was the only American source for many many years), but in general I enjoyed the quirkiness of the various Doctors. I quit watching commercial TV quite a while back, though, so I've not seen any of the Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, or Jodi Whittaker episodes.

Memories can be a precious gift, giving us proof that we are strong enough to endure, that we have reason to rise up and fight to protect those we love; the memory of love provides for us the basis of hope.

Beautiful artwork, Adele -- as usual.

I can't either, but Daughter-in-law and grandson #1 will be there. I was going to tell them to look for you or your work, because I know he'd love your art. I get to collect them for a visit after the con.
