I can't decide if I like Mereet or dislike her... I pretty much fell head over heels for Auben though. xD I'm on page 237 of the book! Almost finished.. @_@ I dislike Semiyar though! I don't know why! D= I want to love him, but I can't! -chibi flail- Meep.
Perhaps he'll grow on me. xD Anyway, I like this drawing very much!

I just thought I'd let you know that I have fallen in love with every one of your characters. My griffin character, Sapphire, is a compulsive healer. That means that when she's around, you're getting better like it or not. But she sulks every time I flip through Saberondan because 'Auben was the one she couldn't save'. Such a bond is quite rare for me you understand. Sapphire sends her love to the 'Mad Prince'.

I don't know the story between these two characters, but the tension in the scene reminds me of that between Hamlet and Gertrude near the beginning of that play. Really subtle and detailed work, good job.

Yes, a pic of Mereet and Iliauben. I like their poses, expressions, and outfits. And I like way you did Mereet's hair. And the chair Iliauben's sitting in, and the curtains. And all the shading.

I think I love to hate Iliauben. He's such a great villian. Crazy or not, I feel bad for him- sympathize with him. Best kind of bad guy. Lovely picture, definitely illustrating the images you portray in the stories.

Lovely! So extensive in detail and shading. You have much more patience than I, but it's drawings like this that make me want to try to be more patient with what I do.
I wonder what happened in this picture?

I was hoping for a tad more detail in his face. The woman's hair looks great, but her dress' wrinkles seem too uniform, you know? Another great picture, and again, so good to see black and white

My own fantasy series I'm writing. Most all my artwork is of my characters and scenes from that series. You can find more information about it on my website.

Awsome piece! If you don't mind, I'd like to know how long it took to draw (or at least an estimate)

Gads, uhm...well, it took about a night to draw, and another two nights to shade, off and on. I work on multiple pieces at a time, but on average, my pics get anywhere from 3-15 hours each

Neko-matt In reply to AdeleLorienne [2004-03-15 09:34:36 +0000 UTC]
ouch, I could never handle that... my hands get paper cutted and black from regular pencil after I write one comic, usually. Also I find it hard to retire from a piece for a day before it's done. I admire your style and dedication as well as the artwork itself.

Wow...o.o
What do you use to shade? It looks like pencil, but not...at least, like a black pencil...? *blinkity blink*

It's pencil. I only ever use one kind of pencil, mechanical 0.5 All my pictures are drawn with that, on regular printer paper.

Beautiful work! The shading is what makes me stare at a pic like this for sooo long. It's beautiful, with so much lovely detail. It almost looks easy - your style.

I think this is an awesome drawing. I love the detail, especially the print of the chair. I just have concerns over the drape of her dress. It appears she is standing still and therefore isnt walking, at least, not turning around, but the drape of her dress in the back suggests otherwise. It just seems to be at a rather uncomfortable drape, where the skirts would tend to want to twist on themselves as if cut on the wrong grain. I would suggest a more vertical drape and gathering of the skirts along the floor, unless you were going for a bustle type effect, where I would suggest showing more of the drape from the other side of the garment.

Simply beautiful work. You have amazing skills in shading and composing pictures that express so much emotion. This piece like all your pictures, tell a story without words from the worn curtains to the noble furnishings and attire of the characters. I love your eye for detail and the elegant grace of your characters. Keep up the great work.

I like this! The character style is clean, like a pseudo-manga style, remeniscent of something out of Record of Lodoss War. That helps... a simplistic attitude to their aura. The body language- albeit I don't know which is Mereet and which is Ilauben, but whomever is cringing on the throne, bristling, oh, you can TELL! It's great! And the strongest point you have, imho, with your artwork... is the shading. The contrast. The lights and darks so elegantly existing in harmony side by side. The hair and dress of the elven woman are... so uncluttered and so much better for their simple elegance. The draperies, and even the lapel-work on the throne- are so finely textured. I want to reach out and brush my fingers across the back of the throne, over the wood of its arms, feel the silk of the drapes, the fine silk of their clothing, the cold courseness of the floor. I like how you captured the texture. So far, the texture... that's one thing you've captured better than my favorite artist. Which is a well done, to be sure!

As usual, you are amazing with pencil shading. What strikes me as being the best thing about this picture is the light source...You have been incredibly consistent about it throughout the picture, and (to me anyway), light sources are hard to get perfect, but you really have done, and it really highlights the picture no end. Also, great work on the folds and on her hair. It's really incredible. Another lovely piece of work and a definite fave

*squee* Auben and Mereet! Yay! I always loved them. Auben's so.. so... mmmm. He's just good. What a wonderful character.
And the shading is so soft, so smooth... I absolutely LOVE the detail you put into Auben's chair! I normally don't see detail put into furniture, but you always put wonderful detail in! I commend you! Band clap! Onetwothree *single clap*

The lighting and the folds of her dress are immaculate! *applauds vigorously* This picture deserves no less than staring at the full view for at least five minutes. I think I expected Iliauben to appear a little bigger in stature and darker in the face, but hey, isn't that what interpretation is for?
