Stewart looked up lazily as Rachael entered his office. The young female trainee manager thrust a piece of paper towards her senior. He stared at her and sniffed dismissively. “What this time, Rachael? You’ve found some of my travel claims need to be re-submitted?” he asked the girl ironically.
Rachael coloured slightly, but maintained her serious expression. “This is proof you are stealing from the company, Stewart.” she told him bravely. “I am going to tell Brian in the morning but I thought it only fair I give you the chance to tell him tonight.”
Stewart glanced at the paper and then held her gaze. His brows lowered and a dark light entered his eyes. “Always the amateur detective, aren’t you, sweetheart?” he smiled without humour. “Such a shame you had to quit the job so suddenly!”
“What- what do you mean?” the young woman asked, suddenly realising she was alone in the building with Stewart after hours even as the man stood up and walked towards her.
