The Late Jurassic Period

The Dinosaurs are now the undisputed rulers of the world. Though some, such as the predatory Ornitholestes, still remain true to the original design, they are routinely overshadowed by truly gigantic beasts. Some, like the Stegosaurus, have grown armor and weaponry. Others, like Diplodocus and Brachiosaurus, have grown into the largest animals to ever walk the Earth.

There’s a good reason for this: massive, powerful predators have also emerged, like the deadly Allosaurus. A subadult Diplodocus is easy prey for these monsters.

Pterosaurs, like Anurognathus, still pursue insects in the air, like the agile Damselflies, while small Ornithopod dinosaurs scamper about in the undergrowth.

And finally, a shout-out to the humble Dung Beetle, which first appeared during this time period to clean up after the immense waste piles the huge dinosaurs leave behind. They survive to the present day… they must be doing SOMETHING right…
