Everyone else seems to think this is about our "inner child" and the like, which is probably what you had in mind, but I thought of something different. When I saw this, it made me think of a "hidden innocence", or the part of us that... dares to hope and dream, might be a bit naive, looks for the good in anyone, is unsuspecting, helpless, constantly looking for guidance... is everything we're taught to hide or grow out of, everything we're supposed to lose as we age.
Or, um, maybe that's just my fancy way of thinking of the "inner child"? I don't know.
