HMCS Huron was an Iroquois class Destroyer in the Canadian Navy.
When I joined in 2004 she was tied up alongside as they tried to decide what to do with her as they did not have the funds to keep her going.
Unfortunately she was intensionally sunk in an exercise of the west coast.
From what former crew members told me, she was a good ship.

That's an interesting little story. What's worse for a ship... being used for target practice or going to the scrapyard? I was in the Air Force and for us it was the boneyard in Arizona. You joined in 2004? Man you're making me feel old, I was out in 1995 after 10 years of service!

I think the worse would be the scrap yard. Seeing her taken apart bit by bit by scavengers.
I was a NESOP (Naval Electronic Sensor Operator) my job was electronic warfare on ship and above water warfare (included anti-surface and anti-air).
I served on two frigate, HMCS Vancouver (FFH-331) and HMCS Winnipeg (FFH-338).
In total, i served 13 years before i was medically released.
