This is the dark Voltel, I'm currently calling him Nightmare Voltel until I can think of something better. I know the proportions aren't all right, it's actually a little different from my normal style of drawing. I like the way it came out mostly.

----Story & explanation----

When the Crimson Shadows discovered that within Voltel was an ancient and powerful demon, they sought to release it and add it to their ranks. They knew that strong feelings of anger, sadness, and stress would cause the demon's personality to bubble to the surface, so they plotted a way to cause Voltel to feel all of these past the breaking point at the same time. They captured him and his wife and tortured and killed her in front of him, beating him all the while as well. Eventually the split occurred, Voltel's skin bubbled, another body forming from the bubbles, identical to his own.

With the use of a spell, he clothed himself in armor and summoned one of Voltel's Ageless blades. He put the blade to his other self's unconscious neck. It seemed as if he would comply with the Crimson Shadows when he saw the dead body of Nemina. Unusual feelings stirred deep within him, had he loved her too? Then he realized that the split wasn't perfect, each still possessed a fragment of the other's soul. He couldn't risk killing himself, but that wasn't all. The more he thought about the situation that had released him, the angrier he got. Calamity stepped close, deciding that if he couldn't kill the unconscious Voltel, then she would. With one fluid movement Nightmare Voltel shattered her sword and split her body in two, never even looking up. Then he proceeded to vent his anger, killing every Crimson Shadow there. He decided that he would work with Voltel, at least until he could figure out how to finish the split.

It should be noted that the fact that he covers his eyes is a trait that the Voltels of the past were known for. Many think it's a handicap so that others might stand a chance against him, but it's actually so that he can focus on his sixth sense, which is the ability to sense, or feel the energy around him. In truth he can "see" much better this way.

Also I redesigned the Ageless blades a little, not sure if I'll still with it, but I think I like it like this. Anyways, let me know what you think.
