Description Congratulations, Yooka-Laylee! You're the new Mighty No. 9!

So, Playtonic decided to kick JonTron off of their game for the sake of “celebrating diversity and to make their players feel 100% comfortable with their games” after he made some quote-unquote, “controversial” statements on a live stream. While Jon may be upset about this news, but still wishing the company good luck, people were upset about his removal and the explanation given to it, and it didn’t help that a good portion of those who funded the Kickstarter was because of him. As a result, many backers have taken their fury to the Steam forums, asking for refunds and/or giving out their concerns on this decision…and were subsequently banned for it. And not only that, the person banning these people at Playtonic's publisher, Team 17, are also openly mocking them for that. It’s one thing to kick out a person out of a project for having an opinion, and then there’s being a butt and just blocking and mocking people for not taking that decision well.

This is very similar to the situation in Mighty No. 9, back when that game was hailed as the next coming of Mega Man, when a very questionable person with very little knowledge of Mega Man was appointed to be the bridge between the fans and the development team, a community manager, if you will. Her dubious behavior on the forums led to the bans of various backers and other ones started asking for refunds as a result of her poor judgment. And on top of that, that controversy was only the start of MN9's problems as it got closer to release...eventually after delay, after delay, after delay.

You were so close, Yooka-Laylee, but you ultimately ended up tripping near the finish line.

EDIT: I think I need to explain myself a little further. I'm only referring to pre-release blunders and this may not ultimately affect anything, since the game still looks good. However, considering how a good chunk of the audience is greatly upset over Playtonic's decision, Team 17's gross treatment of the ones complaining in the first place, and how people are getting sick of politics ruining everything (myself included), even their favorite pastimes, the future of Yooka-Laylee went from looking good to looking kinda fuzzy. While I see this thing as a tipping point towards not wanting the game, that should not detract you guys from enjoying it, hopefully. We will have to see if the game can rise up despite the controversies, or if it's gonna consume it.

Well at least Yooka-Laylee will be better than Might No. 9, right?
...right?

From what I've seen it does look more fun to play.

Mighty No.9 is still the inferior game.

Still I kinda see why people were upset, still why would they get upset of over thing a  internet celebrate said something that got him kicked out of the game and now people demand refunds because of that. I would fund a game if it's good and I like it not because someone popular said so, heck if I had more money I would pledge to Bloodstain:Ritual of the Night though I wouldn't be able to play it due to not having one of the systems and I'm also confused by Steam.

But considering how JonTron has been in recent videos, I can see why Playtonic kicked JonTron off the game as yes Yooka-Laylee is a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie and it would have to be kid-friendly with cleverly hidden adult jokes, now if it was a Conker-like game then they would have left JonTron as part of the game.

Still at the end of the day, Yooka-laylee is still coming out on it's release date of April 11th and there one issue besides this one about JonTron.

Sadly, their reasoning is poor.

I dunno, I don't see it fit to play a game from a company that openly mocks their consumers asking for refunds on Twitter...
