Description
A photogenic landscape but also a very sad one. Images shows what is left of Geamana village, which started in 1978 by copper exploitation in Rosia Poieni has turned into a tailings pond. This 200m deep lake has swallowed hundreds of houses, a cemetery and soon it will cover the church situated once on a high hill.Although a business which does not bring any profit, sterile continue today to fill the lake swallowing nearby forests and houses. The same fate may have Rosia Montana but with a lake about 4 times bigger that will contain cyanide.
Geamana village is situated in the North side of Metaliferi Mountains - Romania.

Wow, great colors and composition here (even if the landscape relates to an environmental tragedy).
