When the snow flies and the sun vanishes, we keep the light alive and remind ourselves of the coming of spring.who knew id end up dealing with a race of philosophers? anyway, this is another of my odd aliens. ive drawn one before, [link] , but this one is as average as they get.
this started out as just a quick sketch to solidify anatomy. then i was wondering what kind of clothes and accessories a 6-limbed race wear. then she told me that their cities are very highly decorated, especially with scenes and symbols of life, since they live at an amazingly high altitude and in a place where the sun doesnt rise for more than half the year. i could accept that. but when she said they prefer mosaics to murals, and when i agreed to that, it was a hint i was losing it. so...many...little...squares...
-time spent: off an on for a month
-materials: colored pencils and ink
-i have no clue what shes doing. maybe going to greet someone or rehearsing a speech. i dunno, go ask her.
-mosaics. dear god. clearly i started on the left and it got better as i went. the far left one is supposed to be an aurora, then a mountain range, then a forest stream.

please please give me feedback. this is one of the most complicated things ive ever done, and i want to know how it comes across.

So much detail! Nicely colored. I would suggest making the characters lines thicker so it will stand out from the background.

Hey, this is gorgeous! I envy your patience with that background, especially the mosaic work. I actually love the colours you used. The only thing that looks a bit 'off' is the colouring of the pillars. It looks a bit rushed and sort of crayon-y... if that makes sense. I just imagine they should look sort of shinier and rounder. I do like, though, how the black swirls through the brownish-red you used there.

Wow, I can see why this would have taken you so long to complete! That background with the glass would be mad complicated!
I think the character is really neat and unique! I like how you drew them and the clothes as well!
My only suggestion when it comes to the coloring, is to work on making some parts bolder or brighter. This can be achieved by adding more layers of colored pencil onto particular parts. Such as, I think this piece would really pop if you made the main character, really bold with the browns (by adding some dark browns or black) and having the stained glass that same color because it will help separate the character from the BG. That's my only suggestion.

thanks very much, ill keep all that in mind. blah, i never work with so many bright colors and so many busy things it was something of a learning experience ^^' (by the way, your icon and signature are freaking awesome)
