Description Flight 69: Check! ✅

Ingenuity completed its 69th flight on Mars on December 20, 2023, setting a new record.

The helicopter flew at a maximum speed of 10 meters per second, covered a record distance of 705 meters (the previous record was set on April 8, 2022 and was 704 meters) and stayed aloft for 135.4 seconds.

The distance between Ingenuity and the Perseverance rover is currently about 895 meters.

Before the mission to Mars was launched, it was guaranteed that Ingenuity's distance to the rover could be 600 to 800 meters, so that both could still communicate with each other.

A distance of 1 km is the maximum possible limit.

Ingenuity sends its data via a small antenna (via which the helicopter also receives the commands) on the solar module to the Perseverance rover; the rover then sends the data to a probe in Mars orbit; the orbiter for its part sends it to an antenna of the Deep Space Network.
From there, the data is sent to the team at the Ingenuity control center, where it is read out.
