Description
Ingenuity performed its 68th flight on Mars on December 15, 2023 (Sol 1002 of the Perseverance mission), 6 days later than originally planned. This flight was planned to be a fly out and return flight with a round trip flight distance of 828 meters, which would have broken the previous record (704 meters, set on 8 April 2022) by 124 meters.
However, the flight ended after 702 meters, two meters less than the previous record.
The helicopter did return back close to its takeoff point, so the outbound leg was cut short for some reason.
Was it a last minute change of plan or was it an actual problem?
