Zootopia spoilers inbound!This is what I envision might've happened before that crucial point of the film's climax. It's a pivotal moment for both Judy and Nick, as it shows what they both accomplished together and tests what they've learned. By now, we see that Nick helped Judy overcome her subconscious fear of foxes (to the point that she let him stalk her, and put his jaws around her neck), and in doing so, after everything they both have been through together, Judy helped Nick finally fulfill the Ranger Scout oath he had taken all those years ago.
I, Nicholas Wilde, promise to be brave, loyal, helpful, and... trustworthy.
I haven't drawn fanart in years, and I haven't drawn comics in even longer! It goes to show you the impact this film had on me. You'll find my initial thoughts on Zootopia back in my Journals, and this comic here is over just one more aspect of the film I couldn't help but admire. The friendship they built is well-earned, and even after seeing it multiple times in the theater, I still wanna see it again. Hunting for reference material for these comic only increased that desire.

Actually...you're right, this is exactly what kind of conversation Nick and Judy would have to deceive Bellweather. And if she was the one who'd come with the idea, it reveals an enormous leap forward in trust: going from instinctively reaching for fox repellent, to actually trusting Nick to put his jaws around her throat and not bite down.

Well done. I can see this exchange happening in canon. They both played their part in the setup so well, you had to know they thought it out beforehand. There were only two clues that they were just acting the part in the whole scene (Nick's eyes weren't slits, and Judy's nose wasn't twitching) but they had me fooled... Until Judy started hamming it up.
it WOULD take an ENORMOUS amount of trust on Judy's part to allow Nick to do what he had to to make it look convincing without actually hurting her.

Yeah, I figured it would totally break the intensity and impact of the climax if they had shown it, so in light of that I decided to play it out myself since I figure most everybody already knows what happens by now.
