Description
I decided to just finish that sketch I started on. I corrected a few mistakes but some I just couldn't do. I took a few photos and then stuck it in my scrapbook. Doodled a border, and voila.. this is what I've made so far. Too lazy to scan, the preview actually looks better than the real thing. It's my first sketch in years. I wanted to shade and ended up mostly crosshatching. It was hard and annoying, because the light was tricky. I doubt its even done, but its good for now. Close Up : [link]
Standard 2B Pencil & a 0.5 lead pencil for darker shading.

you've got some lovely detail in the skin, especially in the folds of skin between the thumb and forefinger

I love how you add a touch of "You" to your sketches with the nice borders etc.
This is definately solid good ol' sketching goodness.

Haha thanks, those borders were more interesting than the actual drawing.

Apart from some anatomy mistakes, it looks okay
if you really draw, your hand must be comfortable, and well.. to me it's not if I hold all my fingers straight like that. other mistakes are very subtle so it's no biggie.
I think the shading worked out pretty well, because you have many tonal values.
go draw some more, you're good!

Thanks sooo much!!
I actually do hold the pencil like that.. but they're more relaxed when drawing (I actually had to try it out )

Very nice. I can't figure out how to shadow correctly even with a q-tip x-x;

Very very lovely. It reminds me of that drawing by that dude where it had a drawing of two hands drawing each other. half of both hands looked real (each opposites) and the rest looked drawn so that it was this circular thing.
SF? *hint hint* XP
I would recommend working on your shading for more contrast and reality; the more shades you can produce, the more lifelike it becomes. Also, try to stay away from a lined outline around everything; I understand why it is there but it reduces the "real-ness" and once you get the shading with more contrast, it'll be easier to stay away from the lines. But, as I said, it is very lovely and creative already. ~.o You're very good.
One question, though: if the hand doesn't fade out, why does the pencil?

"That dude" you mentioned is Maurits Cornelis Escher (my favourite artist) and the picture is called "Drawing hands"

Thanks for all the tips Skye, I'll remember that next time. I need to blunt the pencil too, I've torn the paper at 4 or 5 places. o.o
The pencil fades out.. because I was too lazy to work on that part.. actually it's not done.. see the pinky? I'm thinking that one is supposed to be the darkest. I stopped when I started tearing the paper.
Oh wow thanks for the fav! *hugs*
