Description
I swear I had not procrastinated on this that caused the delay. But my obsessive-compulsive self urged me to add a few brush strokes here and there only to be cropped later. I'm just glad I have something I could submit again, this time of my ownSize: 11" X 13 3/4"
Materials:
Watercolor paper
Pencil for outline
Coffee... lots and lots of coffee

A DD!

Thank you so much for the critique. I had been waiting for critiques cause I need to know where I can improve. Yeah, I noticed the white spot on the forehead which became apparent when I sealed the painting with a fixative. I already fixed it but didn't want to update the one uploaded here This got a DD this way so I intend to let it stay that way here. It happened as I was redoing a bump on the forehead and with coffee when you try to put a lighter tone or brush with more water, it erases the first layer of coffee and no matter how I tried to cover it, the tones had already separated.
I also realized the middle finger soon after. Maybe I was in a hurry to post it cause it had been taking so long (a month I think) that I just wanted to get done with it. It's actually the lighting that is off, that's why. I did a darker tone to the index finger and the ring finger but highlighted the middle finger too much. I think I should have washed the area with a darker tone (not too dark though) so it goes with the rest of the fingers.
Thanks again for the critique. I really appreciate it

That is awesome. She looks really realistic and her hand is perfect! I always have trouble with hands myself, especially with painting them. And the name suits it, with the expression on her face. Which by the way, was also done very nicely. You can see the emotion in her eyes, which is very hard to do. Her hair is done well too, so that she looks a little harried (please forgive the pun) but not crazed. I also love that it's done in coffee, that's a really interesting medium. I honestly wouldn't change a single thing about this picture.

It's actually pretty common nowadays. Of course with different styles. You may want to search on coffee painting and you'll see it has probably started about ten years ago... or maybe earlier. My favorites or Hong Yi, Candeias and Steven Mikel. Though Karen Eland seems to be the most popular one

It will probably never cease to amaze me that something this detailed can be painted with what is basically the planned spilling of drinks.

Thanks
As Karen Eland puts it, 'if it stains it can be a medium'
I saw other works with tea, beer, coke, soy sauce and they're very impressive but I guess I'll stick with coffee

Wow very nice technique. Good to see coffee can contribute in more ways than one, to being an awesome way to begin the day.
