Description
I swear I had not procrastinated on this that caused the delay. But my obsessive-compulsive self urged me to add a few brush strokes here and there only to be cropped later. I'm just glad I have something I could submit again, this time of my ownSize: 11" X 13 3/4"
Materials:
Watercolor paper
Pencil for outline
Coffee... lots and lots of coffee

A DD!

This is really beautiful!
You've done an amazing job, and the facial expression is so full of emotion. Brilliant

Wow. You can feel the fear and anxiety just by looking at her eyes alone. I wish I could capture that level of raw emotion in my drawings. Excellent work!

Thank you! It was a challenge for me as well, especially to capture fear and not a add a lot of lines in the drawing

solo la angustia de esa mirada salva la obra , has recargado las pinceladas pero ello quizas ha reforzado tu estilo , bello y emocional

Gracias! sorry I don't speak Spanish. But I do agree with your comment. It has always been my style (on coffee painting) to show the brush strokes to show a certain level of realism but not to the extent that it replicates a photo. Also, in coffee painting, it's difficult to get that smooth transition once you achieve a certain level of darkness in the shade. I tried to make a gradual transition from light to dark on the face and rougher texture on the background. But the protective coating emphasises the strokes when applied even on the face. I don't mind the result but you make a valid point
thanks again for the comment

The thing I really like about this drawing is that it's a black person. I mean, personally I don't see so much portraits of them... I like every kind of people, that's not my point ! {I suck at explaining....}
Anyway, this is really awesome and you deserved the DD well. (:

Thank you! maybe more brown (Southeast Asian) but yep we could have darker skin than usual
that's strange though, I thought people with darker skin (for me) offers more opportunity for contrast and textures, I actually love doing drawings of people with either darker skin, like African or Jamaican skin color type, or old people because of the wrinkles.
