Description
This is the second iteration of the thing that started it all: the steampunk chess set.-Wider bases for the pieces. The pieces of the first set toppled over even from a light nudge, these stand their ground even in a storm.
-Black pieces made of black metal, only their accents needed painting.
-Custom-cut accent on the knight, very much closer to the original idea than in the first set.
-Soft felt bases to avoid scratching the board and making noise.
-Larger board with improved engraving. Separating lines face players in a symmetrical fashion. White squares engraved in a scribbled fashion instead of having to use paint.
Complications have arised with gluing (the pieces are glued, not welded), almost all stages required a separate kind of glue. Also I've experimented with a variety of materials for the board.
I've also included a leather pouch for the pieces (not featured on the photo), and so the set weighed in at ~3,5 kg/7,7 lbs.
I've learned a lot during the process, it was truly an evolutionary phase for my chess set concept.

I received this today, and I must say the set is quite beautiful. It is a remarkable addition to my living room table, and I expect to get many games in. Art is the beauty of vision, and Chess is beauty of the strategic Mind. Together, quite a pair.
Thank you, Æquinox

And thank you. Without you, it wouldn't have taken form.
