The Strv-99 is the main battle tank of the VFV (Vloskovien Førsvaretvapen - Vloskovian Defence Force). Designed to replace the Strv-74, it entered service in 1999. It first saw combat 3 years later during the 2002 conflict between Vloskovia and Mizrakhajj, fighting against the T-72M and T-80U. It features a fully-automatic loading system, removing the need for a loader and bringing the crew count to three. The autoloader regularly requires maintenance and makes the tank expensive, but it gives a much higher rate of fire than a human loader. A total of 350 tanks were produced between 1996 and 2001, with 6 lost in combat. The remaining 344 are all currently in service with Vloskovia. An additional 70 were produced for Mizrakhajj after the war, when they were re-arming under Vloskovian supervision. After evaluating the tank's combat experience, it was selected by Lukanya in 2005 to replace their M60A4 Pattons. It is license-produced in Lukanya as the Type 5.
