Just FYI I'm using this switch to digital and slight style change to spring sudden and unexplained design changes on you and we're just going to pretend that Liam, Dana, and Poseidon always looked like that.

Oops I made Giovanni attractive.

Let's talk about Giovanni- who is just a huge mystery in-game. I chose to humanize him a bit here and show a more "family man" side of him. He did bad things... But I think he did them with good intentions and I think he was trying to fill a certain role. I think he cares about Silver and his wife. And I think that's why when an 11-year-old threatens him, Giovanni steps aside instead of ever hurting or even threatening to hurt a child.
As to what I think would happen between him and Team Rocket in Johto (2 years later) is something I will be showing either in the epilogue or as a sort side comic/history dump.

As far as the battle: Poseidon 1HKO'd all of his pokemon (which I thought would be redundant and pointless to show) and I let Arnold take the Nidoqueen and king. I did that so he get some extra experience before the E4.
In the battle with the Nidoqueen, she used body slam and Arnold was paralyzed (but it did very little damage). Like most people, I thought nothing of it and let him stay in and kept fighting.
Well, that's awfully callous when you think how terrifying it would be to have to fight while paralyzed.
He 1HKO'd the Nidoking with Blast Burn though. X)

Penny actually never evolved into Pigeot. She was boxed and I never took her out again. This might be the last time you see her- IDK.

And yes, I caught a lot of pokemon in Sevii (and you'll notice the number of "total pokemon" going up) but since I never actually used them, it seemed silly to devote a panel to their capture.
