I never thought I'd say this, but poor Gary! That's gotta be a rough experience, getting told off like that with a reminder that your only relative is slowly losing it and your parents are still dead.
That said, this also explains the comment about Leaf beating up Gary being the closest an Oak ever came to justice. You sly fox. the baby girl in the prologue was a red herring all along. I connected it to Leaf and not Daisy all this time. And just as it should, looking back it makes perfect sense.

At least this Gary isn't quite the level of douchery that the Gary from It's A Hard Life by Qlockwork is. That Gary is near irredeemably douchey and for no real apparent reason. This Gary is at least reasonable.

i saw ned in the background and basically went 'OMG THERES MY CERBERUS PUPPY' so that was great. seeing more of liam is awesome because that new design is so rad. especially the face. its so different from when you started out but it looks amazing. the little bit of penny i almost missed because arnold was being such a cute but it was good to see her again too- i like these reminders of all the pokemon- even the ones leaf doesnt really use or hasnt used in a while. good tie-ins that remind us of all their stories
i love that you are tying in the experiments and the strange threats now, having leaf find the splicer is sure to send her into turmoil. and the fact that gary still sees what he does as right, as strength, makes me sad- especially when his own grandfather is telling him off. like i want to like you man but you kill off peoples pokemon like its a right you have for being stronger and it makes me wanna take my aggron and drop her on you. 'sit. stay. good girl. now gary we are going to talk about your might-is-right attitude-'

In canon, Rowan went to Kanto before the events of Sinnoh to study their mythology and I believe I read somewhere that Augustine went to Kanto at some point. SO I threw them in with Elm who just crossed he border to briefly help. XD
