Chapter 36: Left For Dead | Table of Contents | Chapter 38 Title Page38-1

Author Commentary:
- Bet you guys didn't see this coming. Lance never touched my pokemon. I didn't lose a single health point this whole battle.
So let's go into strategy. I knew while training that I couldn't heal which meant that I needed to do two very important things to get to Gary (because I am in it to win it)
1) End battles as quickly as possible to minimize damage taken and 2) make sure at least 4 of my 6 pokemon can take on any given Elite Four member (don't put all your eggs in one basket)
SO I taught Poseidon Ice Beam in case Gilbert got hurt and I taught Arnold Dragon Claw so he could at least take out the Dragonaire and Boomy for the Gyarados and Aerodactyl.
- Leaf is a very mature person. She's one of those people with an old soul. She knows she doesn't need Alexander and she can see that he's happy with Lance and taking him from Lance would be cruel and pointless. But she'll be friends with Lance later on so it's not like she'll never see him again.
- I still can't draw dragon wings to save my life
- Leaf keeps control over Poseidon using somewhat alpha male tactics. As long as he knows he can't get away with disobeying her, he will listen.

as far as leaf and will in dresses, if leaf's hat was one of those straw/floppy brimmed sun hat she'd pull into the lead, however Will's slight curtsy puts him in the lead by just a tiiiiny smidgeon.

Alex is still a little weak to be fighting (though Leaf would not have hurt him)
He'll come back off screen. Leaf and Lance are gonna be fairly close and Alexander and Arnold will be dragon buddys.

Way to destroy Lance. I always have issues with at least that Dragonite.
Nicely handled with Alexander. That's got to be at least a bit sad for Leaf, but on the othe rhand, he couldn't be with a better trainer. Also, William and Leaf having a girly-off makes me happy.
"And please beat him because no one here likes him." I like Lance. And the differences between the two Charizard and the two Gyarados. Both still recognizable as what they are, but easily different from each other. It'd be interesting to see Alexander at full strength. Arnold looks much more robust, but how much of that is because he's just immense and how much is Alexander still being underweight would be cool to see.

Thank you~ I was actually super nervous for that Dragonite, but the only thing it got a chance to use was "safe guard". Like, okay Lance, way to use your turn wisely. X"D
She is a bit sad about it, but she'll get over it quickly because he is in very good hands and she already has Arnold. Alexander is happy and free and nearing healthy- that's what she wanted most of all.

I'll have to draw Alexander and Arnold together sometime. Arnold is definitely a bulkier and robust build and Alexander is a sleeker. I'd compare Arnold to a horse and Alex to a big cat or a dog. :Ic

Ahh Alexander! I love that he works with Lance now. Even if he doesn't remember Leaf, he still has a great trainer.
Leaf is the alpha male against Poseidon, I love it XD. Poseidon's expression (or lack thereof) is great. He looks so done in the last panel.
I have to say, Lance looks fantastic! That last panel of him is incredible. Also "please beat him because no one here likes him".

OMG LANCE 'and please beat him because no one here likes him' als;fkja;sdlkf i have never seen a more perfect summary of gary oak. that battle was amazing; i cant believe you got through it with no hp loss at all. although boomy still falling apart worries me, regardless of his hilarious sass levels.
on another note- as difficult as the decision was i can see why leaf left alexander with lance. the man obviously is taking good care of him, and it would be cruel to separate him from his second trainer when he does not even remember her. so as much as it pains me that she and alexander will not be together at least they can still see each other and he has a good home

Yeah, Leaf knows that Alexander isn't a toy she can displace because "original owner" and Lance is very good to him indeed. Her and Lance will be pals though so she'll still get to see Alexander a lot. Plus, she has already has one adorable flying lizard child named Arnold- she doesn't need two. XD
