Author Commentary:
- Bet you guys didn't see this coming. Lance never touched my pokemon. I didn't lose a single health point this whole battle.
So let's go into strategy. I knew while training that I couldn't heal which meant that I needed to do two very important things to get to Gary (because I am in it to win it)
1) End battles as quickly as possible to minimize damage taken and 2) make sure at least 4 of my 6 pokemon can take on any given Elite Four member (don't put all your eggs in one basket)
SO I taught Poseidon Ice Beam in case Gilbert got hurt and I taught Arnold Dragon Claw so he could at least take out the Dragonaire and Boomy for the Gyarados and Aerodactyl.
- Leaf is a very mature person. She's one of those people with an old soul. She knows she doesn't need Alexander and she can see that he's happy with Lance and taking him from Lance would be cruel and pointless. But she'll be friends with Lance later on so it's not like she'll never see him again.
- I still can't draw dragon wings to save my life
- Leaf keeps control over Poseidon using somewhat alpha male tactics. As long as he knows he can't get away with disobeying her, he will listen.

Also, yaaaay, no one got hurt (on Leaf side, that is).
Soooo, two main remarks on this chapter (which was as wonderful as the others, fear not~) :
-I have mixed feelings about how you handled the Leaf/Alexander reunion. Also, how you dealt with the whole "corrupted data team" in general. Like, I'm glad that Leaf wasn't in pain, but... I think she should have been, actually. At least a tiny bit, as mature as she could be. For once, even if it's in her character, well I felt it was a bit irrational. ^^' Also, the "lost team" deal was a huge part of what triggered Leaf to go on her second journey... and now it seems dealt with within a handful panels. =/ But I'm overthinking it and I should just be grateful that she accepts it and I'm still happy about that and it was heart-warming and alright I'm done.
-on a more positive side, I love how you depicted Lance. It might actually have been the FIRST TIME EVER that he's not a jerk or totally indifferent. And I really wouldn't have thought seeing him this way ever since I read The Great Adventure. It was simply amazing to see him... nice... and caring... and smiling in a non-sadistic way... Yeah, really, a huge, huge congrats about that.
Finally, sorry M!Leaf, but William toootally rocks his dress. You can't beat the fab when the fab is wearing a dress.

And ye- Leaf got by unscathed!
- Leaf's reaction to Alexander has been a long time in the making. It started with a gradual change from "I want them back" to "I want to free them".
Starting as early as Lt Surge, Leaf has been questioning if her old team is worth the lives of the team she has now. Gradually, she decides that her new team is way more important to her.
When she loses Liam in Victory Road, she throws her badge case away and gives up on being Champion- she doesn't care about her old team anymore.
And then John convinces her to try to become Champion for herself and not her old team.
So she's happy that Alex is free, of course, but he isn't her reason for fighting anymore.
Pfft. Yeah, apparently having a nice Lance is a rare thing?? Quite a few people seemed surprised. I always thought he was cool and given how the in-game battle went, I didn't have a reason to make him very dark.
William has definitely won that contest by popular opinion

I love your portrayal of Lance, he is really kind instead of being harsh on Leaf (I hope we see Alex again but I think Lance will be a good trainer for him)

I also feel as the encounter really shows how Leaf has grown as a person, in the start she probably would have taken Alexander back but now can recognise what he needs. A+ character development!

I usually do nuzlockes with using only items I find (no buying), but I don't think I could do a nuzlocke with no heals at all.
I mean, not only do you make miraculous art, but you are also a top-notch Pokemon gamer!

Leaf's come a long way, considering the whole reason she started this journey was to get Arnold (and the rest of her team? There were others, weren't there?) back.
Boomy continues to be awesome, and I adore your Dragonair designs! I also really love that last panel with Leaf, Arnold and Lance - especially Lance; the way he's posed, his expression, his request that she beat Gary because none of them like him... yes, I love it!

She has. She really has grown a lot. At the start of her journey, she would have demanded Alexander back. Now she just wants to see them free and happy- they aren't toys to be reclaimed for use.
There are others on her team. We'll see what happens with them.

Your Lance is so nice. I've always headcanoned him as a bit of a jerk (or maybe just indifferent) because, you know, using a freaking dragonite to freaking hyper beam a human.
Now she just need to take out Gary. Normally I'd be optimistic because you have all your team members, but two are still asleep. Let's see if that arcanine earned his reputation as a killer. (

I always liked him and thought he was cool.
(Personal headcanon about that scene: in Johto, Lance has pre-mature Dragonites. I think when he goes to Mahogany, the radio waves triggers his dragonaires to evolve as well and results in weak dragonites. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure Hyper Beam from a full-fledged Dragonite would kill a human.)

When I was an awkward teen I had a major crush on my idea of Lance, the dragon master super power essentially. Hahah :-D
Dragonites are little tubs of fun, I'm not sure how they're supposed to fly with those bitty wings. I do like your take on the design, much more aquatic.

Honestly it looks as though it would propel itself powerfully out of water and be able to glide. The surface area is too small for much more and I'm not sure how that wing type would go with flapping motion. It would be a badass swimmer though, especially if it is narrow.

Mmmmmno. Alexander had to completely relearn walking/standing/being physically active and he's still pretty weak. He'll get back on his hind legs soon enough. X)

I think the Dragonite is kinda cute. The differences between Arnold and Alexander are neat. It's fun to see differences like that.

As for dragon wings you do just fine with Arnold's XD Those things on dragonite are more fins then wings which makes sense even in the game cause they are so dang tiny. Dragonite is the silliest dragon pokemon lol XD and I still love what you did with him.
also Poseidon is precious I love that big guy XD I can also see him being a huge help against the champ's team with that ice beam XD

Also I think the biggest things with dragon wings (at least for me) is when people dont connect them back to the body but connect the webbing to the limb itself. It just leaves me there thinking, no, that doesnt work, all the lift goes away D= (spyro annoys here cause of that very reason QQ)
